Lake Taneycomo Fishing Guide

Lake Taneycomo is a fantastic destination for trout fishing! With its cold, clear water and the annual stocking of rainbow trout, it’s no wonder it’s considered a world-class trout fishing lake. The Shepherd of the Hills trout hatchery’s contribution to the trout population must make for some exciting fishing opportunities. The variety of fishing methods available, from spin fishing and fly fishing to lure and bait fishing, caters to a wide range of angling preferences.

With the immense help of the Missouri Conservation Department and the help of locals and visitors purchasing trout stamps, Lake Taneycomo boasts the quality of fish that it does. The Missouri state record Brown Trout was caught here in 2021 weighing in at just over 40 pounds!

Trout trips are always a hit with families and larger groups. You can expect there to be constant action, good laughs, and great memories. We target trout using a multitude of techniques including fly fishing, drifting, jerkbaits, spinners, and of course live bait.
